The Mountain Home girls soccer team opened District III 4A Tournament play Monday in Caldwell.

The Lady Tigers closed out their regular season last week with losses to Caldwell and Kuna.

The Mountain Home girls lost to the Lady Cougars at Caldwell last Monday, 2-0, a team that beat the Lady Tigers, 6-0 early in the season at Mountain Home.

Last Wednesday saw the Lady Tigers drop their final regular season match, 5-1, at Kuna.

Angelica Garcia scored Mountain Home's lone goal in the match, and Karen Kohtz and Savannah Lopez divided time at goalkeeper, Kohtz getting two saves, Lopez, four.

Mountain Home went into Monday's District Tournament as the number five seed, and opened against fourth seeded Vallivue, a team they split with during the regular season, winning 2-1 at Vallivue, and losing 3-0 at home.

"It was Senior Day when they beat us at home," said Mountain Home girls soccer coach Carlos Correa, "and I don't know if it was that or what, but we weren't that focused and didn't play that well then, so we're hoping to get them this next time."

The District Tournament continues through tomorrow, with the third place and championship games tomorrow.

The top two teams from district qualify for state, and the third place team travels to a play-in game on Saturday, needing a win there to qualify.
