The Mountain Home girls fought back to beat Fruitland last Monday at Eastside Park in non-conference girls soccer action in Mountain Home.

Picking up goals for Mountain Home were Angelina Garcia, Nicole Roelofs and Carmen Santy. Jessica Hendershot had two assists and Nicole Roelofs one. Savannah Lopez had seven "critical" saves, according to Mountain Home girls head soccer coach Carlos Correa, who was pleased with his girls' efforts.

"We're working real hard. They're getting to know what we want them to do and they're doing it, and they're doing the best they can.

"We were a little frustrated at first because they scored on us first, but we came back. We're in a little bit better shape then we were last year. It was a nice win, and the next couple weeks we'll be home and not have to travel, so that should help."

Mountain Home found the going tough last Wednesday when they hosted the Caldwell girls in SIC 4A soccer at Eastside Park, as they were shut out by the Lady Cougars. The loss dropped Mountain Home to 4-4-1 on the season, and 1-1-1 in conference play.

The Mountain Home girls lost 5-0 at Payette earlier in the season. They played them much tougher this time around last Saturday at Eastside Park, but were not able to get any shots on goal to fall in for them. With the loss, Mountain Home dropped to 4-5-1 on the season.

It's another busy week of soccer for the Mountain Home girls, who hosted Kuna on Monday and Emmett today (Wednesday), and go to Jerome on Thursday.

They play their final home match of the season on Oct. 6 at Eastside Park against Vallivue.
