Voluntary curbside recycling offered

Wednesday, August 27, 2003

Curbside recycling is about to begin in Mountain Home.

The blue recycling bins are being delivered to city households over the coming week and the first curbside pick ups are scheduled to begin just after Labor Day.

Each blue bin will include a decal explaining which materials can be recycled and how they should be sorted. Information for residents also will be included with this month's city water bills.

The recyclable materials in the blue bins will be collected on the same day as regular garbage pick up.

Originally planned for residential use only, the recycling program is now being offered for businesses as well.

With curbside recycling becoming a reality, the city will no longer operate its recycling center at the Parks and Recreation Department. However, drop-off bins for a number of materials to be recycled will be available through Shorty's Salvage, so even residents outside of city limits will be able to join in the recycling efforts
