Wayne Blossom, 89, of Owyhee, Nev., died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at his residence.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 6, at the Human Development Center (MST) in Owyhee. Burial followed at the New Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Wayne was born on Dec. 15, 1913, in Battle Mountain, Nev., the son of John and Jennie (Nipp) Blossom.

He served as Chairman and Councilman on the Shoshone-Paiute Business Council, worked as a stone mason and carpenter constructing the Owyhee Hospital, Highway 225 road construction, Bureau of Indian Affairs Irrigation Department, and Tribal Stock Corrals, and served as the Sheep Creek/Mountain View Camping Facility Construction Supervisor. He was also a lifetime, self-employed, successful rancher on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation.

Wayne is survived by: his wife, Rosie Adams Blossom; children Hazel Zglinski, Joe Blossom, Hilda Kingston, Melvin Blossom, Wilt Blossom, Rudy Blossom, Darlene Blossom-Paiva, Verona Blossom, Wally Blossom, Tina Reynolds, Tex Blossom and Maynard Blossom; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Erman Blossom; and sisters Gladys Williams, Dorene Munroe and Lorene Hernandez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jennie Blossom, brothers, Rene, Clancy and Harvey Blossom, sister Laverne Wasson and sons, Johnnie and Morgan Blossom.
