Evangeline Eugene Tingle, 86, was called home on Nov. 21, 2013. Angel, as she was known to her friends and family, was born on Sept. 10, 1927, in Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii. She had ten brothers and nine sisters. From 1943-1945, Angel served our country as a civilian underwater welder, or as the women working in a man's position during war time were known, "Rosie the Riveter." After the war was over and our men returned home, she and her two sisters, Katie and Nora, became part of a professional Hawaiian entertainment group and travelled with the USO performing for our soldiers.. ...
