Bruneau Dunes State Park officials have announced that the 2009 observatory season will end with the Oct. 17 evening astronomy program and stargazing. The 2010 observatory season is expected to resume March 19, 2010.

Schools battling flu illnesses

With the flu season arriving and the current H1N1 virus (swine flu) epidemic underway, the Mountain Home School District has acted fast in spreading the word to schools district wide about what to do to keep students from catching the flu. The district recently held a special meeting for parents that was organized by Central District Health Department and released a letter to parents discussing what to look for as far as symptoms of the virus. ...

William P. Heiser, 88, of Reading, PA, died peacefully in his sleep the morning of Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in ManorCare Health Services, Camp Hill, PA, where he was for three weeks. He was the husband of Marie A. (Batdorf) Heiser, a resident of Country Meadows, Mechanicsburg, PA, whom he married on December 30, 1945. Together they made a dynamic team spanning 64 golden years. He was Mr. Outside and she was Mrs. Inside. She suppported him throughout his military career and many postings...
