McNeal to try again for mayor's post

Former city councilman Joe McNeal will try one more time to become mayor of Mountain Home. McNeal will challenge incumbent Dave Jett, who has indicated he will seek re-election, this fall. Bear shot after wandering into town

A 160-lb. male three-year-old black bear was shot and killed in town last Thursday by Fish and Game officials after they were unable to drive the animal back over the interstate, trap it or drug it. Conservation officer Bob Sellers said the incident began early Thursday morning with a call from an individual who spotted the bear while walking his dog on North 13th East Street near the interstate. ...

King Hill man dies in Iraq rescuing child

A young King Hill man, trying to save the life of a child, was killed Friday in Iraq. Cpl. Richard P. Carl, 26, a graduate of Glenns Ferry High School, died when the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter in which he was flying as a part of a medical rescue effort, crashed into the Tigris River. Two other crewmen of the helicopter also died...
