Political Forum: WECRD Nominations

Posted by B Mullen on Thu, Nov 30, 2017, at 7:08 PM:

Wonder if anyone knows the names of those that the Elmore County Commissioners are recommending the Governor for the vacant seats? And since they were asked to make the recommendations, does this mean they have oversight of the WECRD now? Just seems no one has since the inception.

  • Yes, nominees names would be nice to know. Their knowledge and experienc in the recreation, building and finance areas would also be nice to know. Familiar to people names have been voted in in the past. Had any experience ever been considered, I think a lot of this mess could have been avoided. It all starts from the beginning, buying an over priced acreage in a flood plain and moving on from there. Experienced people would have looked into those things before investing. Hopefully this history doesn't repeat itself.

Response by Brenda Fincher, Publisher, Mountain Home News:
The Elmore County Commissioners advertised their special meeting in reference to the WECRD selection process and had it at the MH Jr. High School this Wednesday evening the 29th expecting a large turnout for not only individuals that have expressed how they would do it to submit their names but for the community to ask questions as well. They had 20 people show up. That speaks volumes. We covered it and will have a story next week in the paper. B
