A fairly simple question.Posted Monday, February 27, 2012, at 2:00 PM
If on Nov. 7 2012 the will of the citizens of the United States is that President Obama is to serve a 2nd term, then what? I'm not talking a narrow margin, less than 1 million votes, but by 6-8 million votes. And if the Democrats retain the Senate as well? Will we have a government by the people, or will the minority still try and force their will on the majority?

I work in road construction, those dastardly flaggers. My family roots go back to New England farms, not the big city. The last town I lived in when in California grew from 16K to 40K in 10 years, and that was enough to drive me out. I don't engage in or tolerate name calling. Name calling reduces an adult discussion to grade school play yard level.
I have never served in the military, but have family members who have, dating back to WW1. I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I am neither extremely Liberal or Conservative. I am raising my 16 year old grandson, not what I expected at this age, and dealing with those issues as well as my health and near retirement which are 2 things I intend to talk about. I decided to try my hand at this thanks to the warm welcome I have received on Mike's blog. When I take a position, I will defend it until I am shown that I am mistaken, and when that happens, I apologize. There are other things about me that will come out over time I'm sure.

Hi CJW, home today, no work :-(. I should have limited myself to more specific issues, the budget or lack there of, taxes, and spending. I absolutely cringe at the thought of us getting involved in another foreign conflict. Just what we need, another unfunded war.
I know I will take heat for this, but if Israel decides to strike first, WE NEED TO STAY OUT OF IT!

Well CJW, we agree about the politicians. I view the people of Afghanistan much like the people of Vietnam during that mess. Smile to your face and stick a knife in your back at first chance. My considered opinion is that when they indicated that they wanted their King back, we should have said fine, packed our stuff and left.
That they are a backwards country I think is a given. That they are a proud and defiant people has been proven over and over.
The Israelis have proven over and over that they are big boys. We have armed them to the teeth and for the most part they haven't been afraid to use those weapons. Given time I think Iran's neighbors will be the ones to put enough pressure on Iran to get them to back off.
Just my opinion.
Does that count all the votes Obama gets from dead people? Intimidation by the black panthers?

Buckshot, where did I ever say the liberals or Democrats were the majority? I didn't. I simply posed the question of what if the majority of voters re-elected the President and possibly the Democrats holding the Senate.

I don't think that's such a "fairly simple question" - not where politics is involved and the candidate with the most money and media behind him has a great advantage. And that would be Obama. I prey that he doesn't get re-elected. I would hope that none of us who believe that Obama and his Obamabots will destroy this country if given another four years will sit back and accept it.

I thought my response to the Obama question was pretty straight forward given the events of the last week. Ok. Not a Bible. For SURE not a Torah. Hint: something that was burned last week and has made international news.

I think everyone should have to have a photo ID when they vote. It only makes sense to me... AND if I had to show proof I was a resident of Idaho to get a fishing license, I should have to show a photo ID when I vote and my name should be in that book they have showing I am a registered voter..

I wonder that myself, Mr. Pratt. I often believe that those who are most vocal in decrying another's political beliefs are those who really never listen to other view points. They think the majority of America agrees with THEM because the majority of their own sample of acquaintances agrees with them.
Me? I think Obama has been disastrous for this country, but only because he's been the Republican party's biggest blessing. They've gotten most of everything they've wanted under him. And the Democrats hardly put up a fight because they think he on their side. Republicans just can't lose this way! Another four years of Obama is just what the Republicans should be praying for!

CELLARHUK........IT IS AND INTERESTING POINT OF VIEW ....one I remember someone else advocating.There is a lot of merit to what you say.I said it before on some issue there needs to be a fight to get to the real solution,and on that the PRESIDENT has been WEAK.For me our law makers have abdegated there responsibilty's to facilitate there re elction .....that is on both sides of the aisle.THE RESULTS is you and I pay for there inaction.THEY ARE SO FAR REMOVED FROM OUR REALITY THEY ARE NOT EQUIPED TO GOVERN.....
