What if???? And I don't plan on commenting on comments.Posted Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 7:39 PM
We all remember Jan. 2009 and what happened in the following months. Now let's imagine a different Jan. day in the future. The opposing party now holds a very solid majority in the House, a super majority in the Senate, and Newt as President. Many would say "A dream come true." What I'm about to describe is a nightmare come true. Newt hasn't been very silent on his position on activist judges, as they are referred to. For him, it seems any judge that disagrees with him is an activist judge. He has even gone as far to suggest that he would order the arrest by federal marshals of judges he disagrees with. The following article is long and somewhat boring, but if time is taken to really read it, he gives a look to a future under Newt and the sought after majorities.
Federal judges hold lifetime appointments, and impeaching them would bring the Congress to a standstill. Solution, empower the the president to abolish federal judgeships as he sees fit up to and including all the associate justices of the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice is the only one required by the Constitution. Then with majority in hand, appoint all new federal judges. Sounds great doesn't it? But stop to consider that this is a double edge sword. When the political tide turns, and it always does, the political bloodletting would be on the scale never before seen. Of course, with a president with this much power, declaring martial law really wouldn't be that hard. Now the bloodletting becomes real, not political.
Oh, that could never happen some of you say. Remember Mike's words, Hitler was a great speechmaker and could sell ice cubes to Eskimos. Ever listen to Newt speak?
If after you have read the whole link, you are of the mind to still vote for Newt just to get rid of Obama, well I don't know what to say.
As you can tell this link is not from some blog site or an opinion piece. It comes from the horses mouth, so to speak.
