We had a chance and we blew it!Posted Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 12:38 PM
I remember a time some 2 decades ago when we had a chance to really change the face of politics and the direction that this Republic had taken. There was this funny looking little man, with big ears and a strange accent that spent a boatload of his own money buying blocks of primetime television, not 60 second sound bites, to show us these funny looking pie charts and speak in real English that everyone could understand. He spoke the truth and no one could shut him up or so it seemed. He had common sense. He had moxey. He had enough money he couldn't be bought or manipulated. He told us the truth when he said that giant sucking sound you will hear is American jobs going over the border. Did we listen? A few, but not nearly enough. Oh no, the people said. Our party would NEVER do that to us. Well, both parties did! He spoke the truth no one wanted to hear. So here we are two decades later, hopelessly in debt, hopelessly divided, and the best we can do is point our finger at each other and say they are to blame. Well folks, here's a shocking statement, THEY aren't to blame, WE are to blame for this mess we find ourselves in today. We have those on one side that feel they entitled to more because they have been shut out, and we have those on the other side who feel they are entitled to hoard everything at the expense of others. Neither side is right morally. This man was the last time supported a candidate, worked for a candidate or contributed to a candidate. What have you done to help save the Republic in the last 20 years?
