Sharing a special momentPosted Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 8:36 PM
I'm sharing this with all of new friends and family in Mtn. Home. These are from the military funeral for my Mother that was held 10/28/2011. I will forever be grateful for the two gentlemen from the Navy who volunteered to honor my Mother. This is the Committal Shelter where services are held for our Veterans. I finally felt at peace. The table is used for cremations.
I have no words to describe the emotion I felt when I read the plaque. To the members of Post 26, my undying gratitude.
The picture on the top is my son, me, my brother Fred, and my Grandson Christian. My daughter-in-law took the picture. The next picture my grandson took.
This is all hallowed ground.
God bless our veterans living and dead. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
A View From The Independent Side ![]() - Archives - Blog RSS feed - Comments RSS feed - Send email to Roy Pratt - Login I'm an almost 61 year old transplant from California 6 1/2 years ago. I work in road construction, those dastardly flaggers. My family roots go back to New England farms, not the big city. The last town I lived in when in California grew from 16K to 40K in 10 years, and that was enough to drive me out. I don't engage in or tolerate name calling. Name calling reduces an adult discussion to grade school play yard level.
I have never served in the military, but have family members who have, dating back to WW1. I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I am neither extremely Liberal or Conservative. I am raising my 16 year old grandson, not what I expected at this age, and dealing with those issues as well as my health and near retirement which are 2 things I intend to talk about. I decided to try my hand at this thanks to the warm welcome I have received on Mike's blog. When I take a position, I will defend it until I am shown that I am mistaken, and when that happens, I apologize. There are other things about me that will come out over time I'm sure.

Thank You Roy for sharing with us. Pat was the commander of post 26 for 2 years in a row. He is on the Honor Guard and has handed out many flags.
He's done 2 funerals this week and so far has one next week. He never gets tired of being there for a fallen vet.......
The Veterans Cemetery is where he wants to be when its his time.
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful moment. I am honored that you shared with us.
Deepest thoughts to you
Jessie
Thank you. We all salute your mother and her service to our country.
Oh my gosh, I am reading this now on my laptop, and when I made that comment before, I was on my "Droid Smart Phone" I meant HONORED, and it was so smart it changed it to hunkered.... I'm mortified! Roy, I would NEVER have written that in my life. That will teach me to Proofread.
Jessie
