And the countdown begins...

Posted Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at 11:48 AM

With 16 days until I walk across the stage, I can't help but feel extremely nervous. I'll be heading off to Oklahoma in July for college, and shortly after my parents pitch me out of the truck/nest, they'll be taking off to Japan.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you on the blogs for giving me some interesting debate online- I don't plan on debating in college so I'll probably stick around to banter with you all and give you some insight into what's going on in the south.

I retired my policy debate captainship last Wednesday and took home both policy debater and congressional debater of the year awards. What an emotional night it was; being a four-year member of the team comes with a lot of attatchment to the teammates (needless to say, teary ole me did cry a bit). I'm very happy that I'll have to miss the Spaghetti Feed tomorrow night because of rehearsal (Please go, we're so close to our fundrasing goal. It's only $5 for all-you-can-eat spaghetti) because I know that would have turned into another emotional night and with graduation so close I can't really take more than I am getting already.

We received some fortunate news last Tuesday in the journalism room- our program is safe for at least the next two years (for details on the programs getting cut, check out the online reader at tigertribune.org, page 2). I breathed a sigh of relief seeing that e-mail- I really love newspaper and without the program I may have never realized that.

I shouldn't ramble much further- I'm getting really sentimental and I'm not sure where to go with this anymore. I hope you all come by the spaghetti feed and get a couple plates (you can get tickets at the door as well) or bid on some silent auction items, or even buy a couple 50/50 raffle tickets. Last year's winner got a couple hundred dollars.

Mr. Bradbury, I know you'll probably read this- if you're intersted in the feed or 50-50 let me know and I'll stop by.

Draco, just saw your post.

Even though my entire family is no longer occupying Idaho, we still are paying for our home- now worries, the Lettkeman family pays for the levy that we very much supported but could not vote for, even though we'd be paying the taxes too.

Congrats! Now, please get a job and start helping pay for the school levy with your taxes.

Yeah, the event was set during an exercise, so we didn't have as many airmen coming out to have a tasty plate of spaghetti. But we definitely appreciate your support!

It begins at five thirty.

Thank you everyone. MsM, I am pretty sure it will be outside weather permitting. (I hope so, my boyfriend's father is coming up from Arkansas.)

Congratulations Melodie, Keep that level head on your shoulders and I am sure you will go far in this world. You have proven you can think and call it like you have seen it as a teenager. Now you are about to become part of the real world, be out on your own and I am sure you can handle it. Don't be like some others once they leave they very seldom show up here again to comment, I think you are better than that so feel free to write your blog or join in on the others when you get the chance. TC finish that education.

Good Luck Kiddo! I have enjoyed your banter company and hope to continue to hear from you once you leave for college. I am glad the kids get to keep Journalism. I was in for 3 years and loved it. Take care and congratulations! B
