  • About "MUSIC" point!

I heard many kinds of music: classical, pop, rock, reggaeton, electronics, rap ... many types!

There is a type of music, Chilean (100% Chilean) which has not been mentioned in your text. If you like poetry, lyrics, I think you can hear something and you enjoy it. If poetry in Chile is "Gabriela Mistral" and "Pablo Neruda" in music is possible to speak of "Violeta Parra" or "Victor Jara" for example.

For example, there is a song of Violeta Parra called: "Gracias a la Vida". The lyrics of that song is pure poetry. Here is a version of a song performed by Joan Baez (a singer of your country!, she is from New York, her father is from Mexico and her mother from Scotland). (¡ADORO el acento que tiene al cantar!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDDHFyI_AAI

Violeta Parra, a simple woman, an artist, very smart, doing an interview in the next video. She is speaking in French: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRpCDnXyHpE

Less "Folk" and more "Rock": there is a group called "Lucybell". This song is called "Miracle", presentation of the year 2007 at the Festival in Viña del Mar!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QDm65BnPm0

Finally, another very-Chilean group, fine poetry. The group is called "Illapu", is from Northern Chile, the video is recorded in the north, near a city called "Antofagasta". This group has played in many places: Berlin, Amsterdam, Madrid, Brussels, Stockholm, etc... The song is called: "Que Broten las Palabras". The lyrics is simply superb. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCMvAd5JN3w

I hope you like it. It is music of Chile. A very SMALL part of the Chilean music. "Reggaeton" or "Electronica" is another kind of musical expression, but it really is not music born in Chile.

    Viva Chile ;-)
