As most of you know, I am striving to become a professional economist. To attain that goal, I have to have a Masters Degree. Boise State does not offer the Masters Degree in Economics so I have to move elsewhere. I had my sights set on University of Nevada-Reno but that program has since been eliminated due to budget cuts. ...

    AEHI, the saga continues

    Posted Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at 9:51 AM16
I will start this out by stating that this saga is about as tired as the Brett Favre story is. What brings me to this? CEO Don Gillispie said in a news release issued Thursday. "We are now looking at two additional sites outside of the current county that may actually receive local approval before the existing site." Gillispie's release also says: "AEHI is pleased to announce several Idaho counties and the state have recently offered lands for AEHI's nuclear plant following delays in local approval and the current site in Elmore County.". ...

As we all know, the once mighty GM declared bankruptcy recently. What went wrong? Bad decisions, poorly constructed labor contracts, and a shifting economy are just some of the reasons. This brings out one of the issues that Americans are going to have to confront. That issue is that of unions and labor contracts...
  • Proposed Nuclear Plant.... continued

Hello, everyone. Feel free to comment even if it seems like we are on our own tangent. NCSU NE Student, Dr. Peter Rickards, etc. I am reading a book and it states that the construction times for nuclear plants are always greater than what are planned. ...
  • A Quick Survey

    Posted Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at 2:25 PM6
Anyone can answer this but I want the local slant more than anything. Here are some questions that are pertinent but not always brought up. 1. If offered a job right now, would you take the job solely for financial gain (wage being major consideration) or to support a family (wage being rather minor but rather stability being the primary concern)...
  • Rezone Hearing for 4/22/09

First of all, I was pleased with the turnout. Agree or disagree, it matters not. It shows that Elmore County is not just some country hicks that cant have lively but coherent debate. There were some people on either side who did their cause a disservice but that is to be expected. So I wont get on the pulpit today. I would rather hear from those who attended or simply have something to say about it...
  • _Proposed Nuclear Power Plant_

I realize that this is old news but I want to shed some light on this. This tends to be a polarizing issue with strong opinions. I wish to simply expose some of the misconceptions. First, according to the propaganda this plant will only use 100000 gallons of water. ...
