MHHS loses to Jerome

The Varsity Volleyball team was defeated by Jerome on Saturday, Oct. 15. This was the district play-in game, which unfortunately means that the team’s season is over. The Lady Tigers fought hard, did a great job, and represented Mountain Home High School very well.

State Cross Country

State Cross Country took place in Lewiston Idaho on Saturday. Our girls team took 12th place overall and many of our girls ran their season best times. Julia Gilbert took 14th place overall with a time of 18.50.88 and now holds the school record!!!! A very nice showing for our cross-country team, congratulations we are proud of you!

Coach Giles had this to say: "We may not have placed in the top 4 in team scores...but we had a great race day. 5 out of the 7 runners ran beating their PR times. Julia Gilbert now holds the school record with a race time of 18.50.88 (beating the previous record by almost 12 seconds). She also medaled, in 14th place. What a great way to end the '22 XC season!"

The MHHS girls cross country team braved a cool morning as they headed to Lewiston Friday, Oct. 26 to compete in the state cross country meet on Saturday. The state meet was held at LCSC Course/Lewiston Orchards.

Congratulations to our boys & girls cross country teams on the excellent performance that they had at the district cross country meet in Twin Falls. Our varsity girls team placed 2nd and advanced to the state meet. State Cross Country will be held in Lewiston Idaho Oct. 29th. Congratulations Ladies!

The boys team ran well and represented our school very well. Unfortunately, they did not advance to state but should be congratulated on the tremendous amount of hard work and effort they put into their season. We are proud of you and are looking forward to seeing you in action next season.

The Tigers travelled to Idaho Falls this past weekend for the Tiger Grizz Invitational, one of the toughest tournaments in the state. The Varsity Boys and Girls competed at Skyline High School and had four placers. Anjolina Espinoza and Amie Hartman were both Tiger Grizz Champions. Makayla Smith placed 3rd and Gave Rosales placed 4th. At the JV tournament at Idaho Falls High School, Camron Pedigo placed 5th and Salomon Uribe placed 3rd.

Congratulations to the MOHO Wrestlers that placed at the Rollie Lane Wrestling last week. Amie Hartman placed 1st and Gabe Rosales placed 3rd. This was a huge tournament with wrestlers coming from all over.

Mountain Home Junior High wresting season came to an end on Friday, Dec. 2 with the district tournament. They had 4 district champions, including Alex Rheingruber, Talon Scovil, Dominik Coombs, and Zaiden Espinoza. They also had many other placers. The girls team took 1st overall and the boys team took 3rd.

A big welcome to the new MHHS head football coach, Ben Rayfield. Coach Rayfield is currently a 7th grade Language Arts teacher at the Jr. High. He played college football at Mayville State University in North Dakota. He is engaged to Teresa Fredell and they have 4 beautiful daughters.

There was a hardy bunch of individuals who braved the cold to give Maya McCray a great send off to state swim Friday, Nov . 4th.

Maya placed 14th in the 50 free and is currently in 7TH place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.44. She advanced into the cancellation round in the 100 butterfly, which took place Saturday, Nov. 5th. She won the consolation round with a time of 1:06.11. She is now the Consolation Round Champion. Congratulations Maya!

McCray places 5th in 50 free

MHHS varsity swim team competed at the district swim meet that past Saturday. Coach Tibbitts said, “Maya McCray qualified for state by placing 5th in the 50 free and 3rd in 100-yard butterfly. Everyone swam very strong and most of them got a PR.” State will take place at the Boise City Aquatics Center / West YMCA on Nov. 4th & 5th.

The MHHS girls varsity basketball team defeated Buhl 50-34 at home on Senior Night. The Lady Tigers are now 16-3 overall and 7-3 in conference. Their next game was on the road Tuesday night vs Twin Falls.

A huge shout out to seniors: Julia Gilbert, Isabelle Johnson, and Maddie Keener. Thank you for showing your school and community what it means to be a Mountain Home Tiger.

Harper reaches 1,000 rebounds

Congratulations to Emily Harper as she became the first MHHS girls basketballs player to reach 1,000 rebounds! What an tremendous accomplishment!

Congratulations also go out to Sadie Drake and Emily for getting nominated to play in the District 4 Senior All Star game being played today at Jerome High School. This is the last time they will suit up as a Mountain Home Tiger. Go Tigers.

Mountain Home High School Cheerleaders competed in Pocatello at Highland High School’s Cupid’s Cheer Challenge Jan 14th. They were successful in their division and brought home second place for their sideline routine and first place for their pom routine.

Up next, they head to Districts in Burley on January 28 to compete for a chance to head to the state competition.

Mountain Home High School Junior Adri Ruffing headed to State Golf Competition early Thursday morning with a Mountain Home Fire Department sound off and the support of her team, Coach TJ Gomez and parents Jack & Ruchelle Ruffing. We wish her great success and luck as Mountain Home will be cheering her on in Idaho Falls tomorrow and Saturday. We will check over the weekend as we follow her adventure and look forward to hearing "she brought home a win"!! A story will be in next weeks Mountain Home News.
