Community walkway gains technology safety upgrade

The crosswalk at the intersection of East Jackson Street and South 5th East Street gained a more eye-catching way to alert drivers as students from local area schools and others in the local area proceed across this walkway.

Students attending classes at Hacker Middle School, Bennett Mountain High School and other schools in the local area gained safer ways to travel to and from these schools following the completion of a safety upgrade project.

The stationary crosswalk signs at the crosswalk at the intersection of South 5th East and East Jackson streets got replaced with rectangular rapid flashing beacons identical to the ones already in place along crosswalks in the city’s downtown corridor.
