Horse virus report leads to closure at Optimist Park

The equine horse arena at Optimist Park in Mountain Home remains closed this week as work continues to control the spread of a virus affecting horses in at least three states.

The closure came after reports surfaced regarding signs of the Equine Herpesvirus, or EHV–1, detected in horses in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana following several equine competitive events held recently in Texas and Oklahoma.
