‘This in only a training exercise...’

Efforts to raise money to support a state youth program turned into an effort that provided needed help for a woman battling cancer while offering city firefighters a chance to gain some first-hand training last month.

The team of six firefighters brought two brush trucks to a home on North 18th East Street on Nov. 29 as they performed a controlled burn to remove tumble weeds that crowded around the residence.
