Water shortage issue addressed

Plans to alleviate the ongoing shortage of available groundwater across Elmore County took a step forward as county officials gained the approval of a water permit to help “recharge” these sources of water.

The Elmore County commissioners successfully gained a new water right permit from the Idaho Department of Water Resources to pull 20 cubic feet per second from the Snake River to refill the aquifers that store this groundwater in addition to using it for supplemental irrigation purposes.
