Taking steps to reduce the risk of fires linked to the presence of rechargeable lithium batteries in people’s homes highlights one of several fire prevention messages members of the Mountain Home Fire Department plan to share with others in the community during this year’s open house event Thursday, Oct. 9.

Scheduled to run from 5 to 8 p.m. that evening at Fire Station 1 at the corner of South Main and South 2rd East streets behind Ace Hardware, the event features a number of activities in addition to allowing adults and children to climb aboard fire trucks before they drive through parts of town.
