U of I educator shares fall lawn care tips

As people continue to take time to mow their lawns, it’s best for them to start taking steps to de-thatch, over-seed and fertilize their yards when preparing these areas for the upcoming winter season, said Joel Haas said, who serves as the educator with the University of Idaho Extension Office in Mountain Home.

As the summer weather continued to fade away this week, the educator with the University of Idaho’s extension office in Mountain Home offered some advice with regards to providing needed care to the lawns around people’s homes.
“The days are getting shorter, and temperatures are finally beginning to drop. These conditions provide optimal conditions for an early fall lawn tune-up to prepare your grass for winter and ultimately next spring’s growing season,” said Joel Haas.
