Carolie Smith Dockstader, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Born to Horace and Afton Cole Smith in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Carol embraced life with a passion for adventure and a heart full of love.

From snow skiing down slopes to camping/backpacking under the stars and exploring the art of belly dancing, Carol was never one to stand still. Her eagerness for new experiences was contagious.

Her most cherished adventure began in high school when she met Gene Dockstader. Despite attending rival schools in Rupert and Paul, their love story began and led to their 70-year marriage in July 1955. Together, they built a beautiful life and a loving family.

Carol was a devoted mother to her children, Brian (Tina), Teresa (Wes), and Greg (Kristy). Her role as a grandmother was one she treasured. She adored her grandchildren: Casey (Hilary), Jason (Hailey), Alexandria (Kevin), Samantha (Patrick), Nicholas (Taylor), Kyra, and Gavin. She was also blessed with sixteen great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.

Carol, a cherished sister, was survived by two brothers, Steve (Kendra), Milt (Carolyn), sister-in-law Patti, and many nieces and nephews. Carol is preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia, her grandson, Bryce, her brother, Ronald, and her parents, Horace and Afton.

Carol’s family and friends will forever remember her laughter, her adventurous spirit, her patience, and the love she so freely gave. While she will be profoundly missed, her legacy of living life to the fullest will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at Elk’s Lodge of Mtn. Home, on November 21, 2025, at 11:00 am.
