Robert “Bob” James Miller, 71, of Blackscreek, passed away Friday August 15, 2025 in Boise with his wife and son by his side. Bob was born June 1954 to Clay and Betty Miller, and was the youngest of 2 boys. His journey came to a quiet end after a prolonged battle with cancer. He battled cancer the way he lived, with strength and love.

Bob was born in Boise Idaho and grew up in Blackscreek at his family ranch. After graduating from Boise High in 1972, he went to the AGC Heavy Equipment Five Craft School in Weiser Idaho. After completing his higher education he went to work for Gaylee Construction, working on I84 between Glenns Ferry and Kinghill. Bob then met the love of his life Carla Cantrell in 1974. The two were married August 15, 1975 and began their life together on the family ranch in Blackscreek. In June 1977 their son Bradley “Brad” completed their family.

Shortly after getting married, Bob began working for Mountain Home Redimix — now known as Idaho Construction and Materials. He dedicated 45 years to the company before retiring. Throughout those years, he also worked tirelessly on the family ranch, never one to shy away from hard work.

In his younger years, Bob took great pride in showing his 4-H steers at both the Elmore County Fair and the Western Idaho Fair. His passion for agriculture and youth development led him to later become a 4-H leader, a role in which he thrived. He spent many summers at local fairs, offering unwavering support to children and families in the community. Bob was actively involved in the cattle industry, holding various positions within the Polled Hereford Association and maintaining membership in the Idaho Cattlemen’s Association.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, always with a smile on his face. He never had much to say, but when he did, it was always something funny—those quick, unexpected one-liners that left everyone laughing. He had a quiet presence, comforting and dependable, the kind of person whose warmth didn’t need many words. Whether it was a family gathering or a simple afternoon at home, Bob made the moment feel lighter just by being there.

Bob is preceded in death by his father, Clay Miller, and his brother, Don Miller. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carla Miller; his son, Brad (Pricilla); and his grandson, Tyson. He is also survived by his mother, Betty Miller; his father-in-law, JC Cantrell of Mountain Home; sisters-in-law Lorie (Todd) of Mountain Home and Sandy Miller of Star; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday August 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mountain Home Elks Lodge.
