Three Island Crossing event scheduled
Wednesday, August 6, 2025

Pioneers navigating their way along the Oregon Trail faced a number of challenges as they crossed this 2,000-mile pathway. Those challenges included safely moving across the water of the Snake River in which those treks typically happened at what became known as the Three Island Crossing.

The history of the Oregon Trail and how the Glenns Ferry community played a role in helping settlers navigate their way through this part of Idaho marks a milestone of sorts as the Oregon Trail History and Education Center celebrates its 25th anniversary during an event on Saturday.
Located at the Three Island Crossing State Park along the Snake River west of Glenns Ferry, the event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the interpretive center.
