Marlene Osborn, 90, of Mountain Home, Idaho passed away in the early morning hours of July 26, 2025, at Grace Living in Fruitland, Idaho.

Marlene was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on May 13, 1935, to Adolph G. and Miriam B. (Brooks) Scholz. The oldest of three girls, she grew up in Braintree Massachusetts. She graduated from Braintree High School in 1953 and attended Bridgewater State Teachers College.

On August 11, 1956, Marlene married her high school sweetheart, Winthrop B. “Windy” Osborn. To this union were born a son Wayne, and a daughter Wanda.

Marlene followed Windy and supported his career in the US Air Force, always mindful of her family and making a home wherever he was stationed. They lived on many military bases throughout the United States, Japan, and Okinawa.

In 1974, after Windy retired from the service, they purchased R & R Hobby Shop, a hobby/craft store, in Mountain Home and spent 26 years as owner/operators until they finally retired in 2000. An avid quilter, crafter, knitter, painter, and cake decorator, Marlene shared her knowledge freely.

Marlene was a devoted homemaker and supporter of all her family’s activities. She was a Brownie/Girl Scout leader for Wanda and a Den Mother in Cub Scouts for Wayne. She never missed any of her children’s activities and continued her support throughout their lives.

Always one to help others, she was a Red Cross Volunteer and later a Family Services Coordinator, assisting military families with moves to new bases.

She was a fifty-year member of the First Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Mountain Home, serving as a church organist, Sunday school teacher, and member of the Education Committee.

She was Mother Advisor of Friendship Assembly #9 and later Grand Deputy in Idaho of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was a life member and past Worthy Matron of Miriam Chapter #16 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Odd Fellows Lodge of Mountain Home. She had the distinction of being elected as the first female Grand Master of the Idaho Grand Lodge of IOOF.

Marlene was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She enjoyed a good game of Pollyanna with her family and friends and playing badminton with her grandchildren. She rarely turned down a babysitting opportunity, cherishing her time with her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Winthrop, and her sister Sylvia Spinney.

She is survived by her sister Dianne Marcus of Massachusetts; her children Wayne Osborn (Aileen) of Bonaire, Georgia and Wanda Clagg (Randy) of Payette, Idaho; Grandsons, Jeffrey Loosli (Marcelita) of Hailey, Idaho and Jeremy Loosli (Michaela) of Mountain Home, Idaho; great grandchildren Emmalita, Farryn, Everly, Jocelyn and Emilia.
