Community celebrates July Fourth

A thunderstorm that ripped across Elmore County earlier in the day and blanketed the area with high winds and heavy rain prompted people to bundle up later that evening as they gathered at the Desert Canyon Golf Course as they helped celebrate the 249th anniversary of the nation’s independence.

The storm, which included reports of a funnel cloud spotted in the sky near Tipanuk, prompted organizers to reschedule events planned that afternoon in Carl Miller Park after the rain caused the ground at the community park to get soggy, organizers said.
