Burn ban now in effect

City firefighters work to contain a range fire near Northeast Frontage Road last week that began after a tire on a semi trailer driving on the interstate broke off and got thrown into a patch of dry vegetation about 200 yards off the highway.

Days after a blown tire on a semi trailer triggered a range fire that scorched a stretch of land north of Mountain Home, a county-wide burn ban took effect Friday as fire danger conditions continue to increase in this part of Idaho.

The order affects all residents living in Mountain Home, the Mountain Home Rural Fire District as well as the rural fire agencies in Glenns Ferry and King Hill.
