Investigation continues into local range fire

Members of the Mountain Home Fire Department and other agencies continued their investigation into the cause of a range fire that damaged at least one motorhome and shed on the south side of town June 2.
The fire began near Southwest Fallon Drive off Highway 51 with winds reaching speeds of more than 20 miles per hour pushing these flames eastward toward Riley Lane.
Firefighters from the Mountain Home Rural Fire Department as well as crews from the Bureau of Land Management and the Bruneau Fire Department worked to contain the fire, which scorched approximately 300 acres of land before they contained the blaze later that evening.
Some residents along these areas reported additional damage to their property, according to information provided by the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office. This included damage to a wooden fence and railroad ties along Southwest Fallaine Street.
