Memorial Day events scheduled

Airmen from Mountain Home Air Force Base plan to stand in formation and render honors as veterans in the local community come together for this year’s Memorial Day ceremony on Monday at Mountain View Cemetery.

Military veterans and others in the Mountain Home area plan to honor the memory of those who gave their lives in defense of this nation during a Memorial Day service that begins at 11 a.m. Monday at Mountain View Cemetery.

Marking its 157th anniversary in communities across the United States, the observance traces its origins to the days following the Civil War when Southerners marked the graves of those who died fighting for the Confederacy.
