Homeland defense radar hearings begin

The project involving the construction of Homeland Defense Over-The-Horizon Radar sites in Oregon uses a transmission site to send high-frequency radio signals into the Earth’s upper atmosphere that work to detect ships, aircraft and other potential threats against the United States.

People in the Mountain Home community gained a first-hand look at plans aimed at boosting the nation’s ability to detect threats posed by other nations as military officials held a public forum last week to highlight this project.
Held at American Legion Post 101 on May 6, the public scoping meeting marked the first of six meetings planned this month regarding the construction of Homeland Defense Over-The-Horizon Radar, or HLD–OTHR, transmission and receiver sites in Oregon.
