August 9, 1977 – April 23, 2025

Randal “Randy” Karl Werschky was born on August 9, 1977, in Fontana, California, to Randal Sr. and Carma Werschky. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Randy passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Randy spent his childhood in California, where his love for sports and music first began. He enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, and was a high school wrestler. A natural musician, Randy’s talent was nothing short of extraordinary. By the age of three, he was already playing the drums, and by sixteen, he had taught himself—without a single formal lesson—to play drums, piano, bass, and both electric and acoustic guitar, all with breathtaking skill.

Growing up with a ten-year age gap from his sisters, Randy was pretty much raised as an only child. When he found out he was going to be an uncle, he was overjoyed. Thanks to their closeness in age, Randy and Eddie were less like uncle and nephew and more like brothers, an alliance that would endure until the very end.

In 1995, Randy graduated from Montclair High School in California, where he met some wonderful lifelong friends. Years later, some of those friendships would resurface in unexpected ways, proving just how small—and connected—the world can be.

After high school, Randy worked at Active West Riverside lanes (later to become AMF) bowling alley, where he met his “brother from another mother,” Flako (Kevin Robert Sherrill). Their bond would grow into a lifelong friendship that proved family is not solely defined by blood ties.

Randy wore many hats over the years. From delivering newspapers and pizzas to working at Hewlett-Packard, Caption Call, and more recently as a realtor—helping people find their dream homes. Randy was always seeking the next challenge, eager to learn something new. Around Mountain Home, he may be best remembered as the “Cell Phone Guy,” from his time selling phones at Costco and Walmart. Regardless of the job, Randy poured his heart into it and touched lives everywhere he went.

He had a true zest for life and a wide range of hobbies: bowling, golf, movies (Directing, editing and producing shorts to full-length films with 1 entered into Sundance and Idaho Filmmaker), music DJ, photography, painting, camping, target practice, and spending time with family, especially his beloved nieces and nephews. He was a gifted mentor to the younger generation, teaching life lessons both through words and hands-on guidance.

With his boundless creativity, Randy used his talents to be a part of life's most meaningful moments. Through his work in video and music choreography, he was honored to help others celebrate monumental milestones, including births, anniversaries, retirements, memorials, and of course, weddings. Randy would often recruit Eddie’s help on these adventures, and together, their passion and teamwork brought something truly special to each occasion. The dedication to these moments and wiliness to learn and do new things even led Randy to become ordained so he could officiate the wedding of his "brother," Chris, and Alisha Fossum—an honor he took deeply to heart.

Randy was a people person through and through. He could talk to anyone about anything and never met a stranger, especially if she was a pretty girl. With a warm smile and a story always

ready, he made everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. He truly was an all-around great man, and he made it so easy to love him beyond words.

Randy is survived by his father, Randal Kenneth Werschky; his sisters, Terri Cornford and Alauna Nunez; his lifelong friend and brother, Kevin Robert “Flako” Sherrill (Krystal); his niece, Marlayna Nunez; his nephews, Eddie Ortiz, Bobby Cornford, Stephen Cornford, Frankie Nunez, Joey Nunez, Johnny Nunez, and Kevin Sherrill; his great-nieces, Courtney Ortiz, Kiley Ortiz, Brianna Cornford, Victoria Cornford, and Niyelly Hernandez; his great-nephews, Alex Ortiz, Reece Carr, Joshua Lastar, and Conner Wells; and many more cherished family members and friends, including his cousin and personal nurse, Rebekkah Nichols.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Carma Eilleene Werschky; his paternal grandparents Karl and Demessia “Penny” Werschky; maternal grandparents John and Phyllis Allred; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

A gathering to celebrate Randy’s life will be held at Rost Funeral Home in Mountain Home on May 2, 2025. Viewing will be from 11 am to 1 pm, followed by a service with a grave side burial starting at 1 pm. A potluck will be held afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society of your choice.
