Letter to the Editor

City council works for us, not the mayor

Wednesday, April 30, 2025

Dear editor,

You can choose to stand for something or fall for anything.

I understand why so many people become complacent and retreat into their own worlds. When there is an army of clicks and blind followers, you end up with a leader pulling all the strings.

Gaslighting becomes a norm and dishonesty is the truth. There is no longer integrity as it was in our youth. And I’m only talking about Mountain Home.

The city council is only as good as the citizens that are involved enough to speak up. The council works for the people; not the mayor. If we aren’t vigilant, council members become “yes boys.”

Then it is no longer the peoples’ city.

Children are dying because parents are bullies, and kids are bullies because they learn from adults – adults that we depend on to educate, govern and mentor them but can’t seem to see their own dysfunctional dynamics.

So, before you get excited about what I write or what we say, look at why we write and say what we say.

Perfect, we are not. Respectful of everyone’s thoughts and ideas? Yes.

More than not, we agree to disagree. I grew up here. I’m not moving like so many have in hopes of a better life, better paying jobs, better schools, more opportunity and lifestyles.

This is home. If everyone is so afraid of standing up for something, we will all fall for anything. Sincerely,

– Rod Dudley, Mountain Home
