City official addresses water claims

City officials emphasized that water in the local area remains safe to drink as they disputed claims from a report released last week.

Concerns regarding recent reports of possible cancer-causing contaminants found in Mountain Home’s groundwater prompted city officials to provide additional information with regards to these test results.

The statements released by city officials came after reports surfaced that indicated the presence of arsenic, chromium, bromoform, radium and at least seven other harmful elements detected in the city’s well water supply, which provides ground water to about 14,000 people in the local area.
