With spring returning to Elmore County this month, the educator with the University of Idaho’s extension office in Mountain Home reminded local residents to remain alert to the possible invasion of a specific type of harmful insects known as Mormon Crickets.
Mormon Crickets, known by the scientific name Anabrus Simplex, aren’t true crickets but rather “katydids” or long-horned grasshoppers, said Joel Haas, who recently assumed his duties with the university office here.
