Local cemetery gains repairs to fence area

Members with the Big E’s Services LLC work to prepare the ground surrounding the Mountain View Cemetery to house the metal posts and other infrastructure needed to restore the fence surrounding this area on the city’s east side.

Efforts to upgrade Mountain View Cemetery continued this week as crews worked to replace the existing fence surrounding this 13-acre area that serves as the final resting place for those who once lived here.

The previous fence was several decades old and sustained “significant damage” over the years, said city clerk Tiffany Belt. In addition to the damage it received as the result of cars crashing into it, other parts of the fence line sustained dents or collapsed after multiple trees fell on these areas.
