Council discusses urban growth

Upgrades to the water treatment area south of Mountain Home, including plans to replace the lining of the lagoons storing treated water, were among the issues the city council addressed last week as a report highlighted the impact future urban growth may have on this part of the city’s infrastructure.

The impact of future housing developments on the city’s wastewater system highlighted a series of discussions the city council addressed during a scheduled meeting Jan. 28.

The council meeting began as members from the city fire department packed into the council chambers to officially celebrate the retirement of firefighter Gary Fletcher. Having served with the department since 1975, the Fletcher’s leadership set a “gold standard” for the city fire department and those who dedicated their time to serve their community, said Mayor Rich Sykes.
