Ada County Sheriff’s deputy killed during traffic stop

Ada County Sheriff’s Department - On 4/20/2024 at about 8:55pm, Ada County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tobin Bolter made a traffic stop on a gray Chevy Suburban in the area of W. Overland Rd. and S. Raymond St. in Boise.

Preliminary information indicates the 65-year-old male suspect had a misdemeanor warrant.

As Deputy Bolter approached the driver’s window, the driver shot Deputy Bolter and fled the scene. A citizen witnessed the shooting, called 911 and performed CPR until medics arrived. Deputy Bolter was transported to Saint Alphonsus in Boise.
