James D. Miller

Born James D. Miller on February 27, 1937 in Hammett, Idaho to Paul W. and Barbara D. Miller. Jim has gone to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 18, 2024.

He came to Glenwood Springs through the Volunteer service known as 1-W Service through the Mennonite Church. He started his service as an Orderly at the Mt View Nursing Home in January 1956. After marrying the love of his life (Connie) in December 1957, he changed to working in the Maintenance department of Valley View Hospital for 4 years. He then joined J&M Pump Co starting his career in the plumbing field. After working for J&M pump for 10 years, he bought K&B Plumbing in 1971, which he owned and operated until 1978; he continued to work there after he sold the business until 1984. He then worked for First National Bank in Glenwood maintaining their facilities from 1986 - 1991. After leaving the bank, he re-joined Valley View Hospital, returning to the Maintenance department where Valley View utilized his Master Plumbing license from 1992 until he retired 2002.

He enjoyed exploring the back country mountain trails, hiking and camping, hunting with friends and his children. He enjoyed woodworking and had a real green thumb; he cultivated many a garden and flower bed. He also enjoyed tinkering, taking things apart to understand how they worked and fixing them.

He is pre-deceased by his father Paul W. Miller, mother Barbara D Miller, step mother Lina Miller, and brother-in-law Phillip Summer.

He is survived by his wife Connie Miller, daughter Charlene (Levi) Troyer of Silt, sons Rob Miller of Idaho and Mark Miller of Fort Collins, brothers Don Miller of Silt and Duane (Jill) Miller of Iowa, sisters Mary (George) Summer of Pennsylvania and Lois Summer of Michigan, many nephews and nieces, one grandchild, and one great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 2nd at Glenwood Church of Christ, 260 Soccer Field Road, Glenwood Springs, CO, 81601, with Pastor Wade Higgins. The family will have a private burial at a later date.
