Jerry Lee Roby was born July 8, 1937 in Adrian, Missouri to Raymond Ernest Roby & Nora Sylvania Lukenbill Roby. He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1958. He married Wilburtine Gilpin on November 29, 1958 in Butler, Missouri. They lived in ElDorado Springs, Missouri where their son, Bruce, was born. After a visit to Idaho to see family, they decided to move and settled in Gooding, Idaho where two more children were born. He worked for Eklund Trucking, Big O Tire, Cobble Ford and owned a Conoco gas station for a while.

In 1968 he went to work for the Idaho Transportation Department and later transferred to Fairfield, where they lived for 28 years. He was a great mechanic and always had something to work on. He also loved to cut wood, farming for Marvin France, fishing and trapping gophers. He served as Camas County Commissioner from 1997-1998 and was on the Fairfield City Council from 1984-1987. After retiring they moved to Grand View, Idaho to be near family.

He is survived by his wife Willie. He is also survived by his son Bruce Roby of Concord, California, daughter Starla (Nicolas) Pineda of Grand View, two grandsons Victor Pineda (Hailie) and their daughter Elena of Homedale and Jeremy Pineda (Caitlin) and their children Adyson, Renee and Elliott also of Grand View. Also surviving are two sisters Irene Wallace and Mae Smith, two brothers John and Don, numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his son Alan, four brothers (James, Frank, Gene and Dean) and two sisters (Norma Ann and Ida Katherine).

Jerry was very proud of his sobriety. He was a member of AA for the past 43 years. He personally attended and supported meetings all over Southern Idaho as well as establishing meetings in Fairfield and Grand View. He sponsored many members in their quest for sobriety.

Viewing will be held at Rost Funeral Home in Mtn Home Idaho on Saturday the 26th of August from 1-3 p.m. Following will be a celebration of life at the Rimrock Senior Center on Main Street in Grand View from 5-8 p.m.. Dad’s favorite ice cream will be served and cookies from his wonderful local friends. Please join us.
