Elmore County’s Elm Seed Bug occupation

In 2009, the elm seed bug (Arocatus melanocephalus), a Mediterranean species, found its way into Idaho, much like in neighboring counties. Since then, these bugs have successfully established their presence across the region, particularly in areas adorned with elm trees. Recognizing their distinct features - bright-red nymphs and dark chocolate-brown adults with reddish highlights and white bands on the abdomen - is essential for residents.
