Matthew Shane Hiddleston

Friday, July 21, 2023

Matthew Shane Hiddleston was born in Mountain Home, Idaho on September 13, 1972, to Ron and Marvelene Hiddleston, the youngest of three boys. He grew up and spent his life in Mountain Home.

Among his earliest and best memories made were when he was very young, at a time when he was happy, and his oldest brother Mike was his "hero". He was running the neighborhood with the kids making the memories they’d continue to laugh about for the next 5o years.

Matt graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1990 with many of the same classmates he had since elementary or before.

Matt went to work while still in school, at a very young age for his dad at Hiddleston Drilling, the family business. He spent most of his working life drilling for his father’s company, with a few short stints with other outfits.

Among Matt's most memorable was a drilling project on the Caribbean Island of Nevis. David Griggs needed a driller with Matt's knowledge, so he went. The drilling family is small and tight and Matt made lifelong industry friends as well.

Matt came home to drill again, with the company and gave what he had left of his working days to Hiddleston Drilling.

Matt married Tammy Schafhausen in 2000 and had one daughter Michelle Christine. They later separated but remained co-parents, friends and eventual "family again", including her partner Matt Luxford and their daughter Leia.

Matt went on to come together with Becky Bennett in 2005 and together they have one son Shane Michael. As a family they continued on with Matt raising also his son's brothers, Clayton and Tyler, as his own, after their father had passed when they were young.

Matt always had a huge smile and a kind word. It was fun to run into him, often involving a laugh and a story. He took the time to reminisce. He liked that.

Matt was real. He liked guy stuff, drilling and fast cars, boats and music and friends. He was Fun. He loved his family through its faults. Matt had learned the value of time and he always tried to give of himself.

Matt's bright light and spirit saved some of us and he will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

Matt found his peace in the beauty of a sunset. Every one of them. We will all take comfort and strength knowing he will forever be a part of every one of them that we have yet to see.

Matt passed away on July 16, 2023… on a Sunday.

Rest Easy, Matt
