Maria Elisabeth Lang passed away aged 100 after an eventful life on Monday, December 26, 2022 in Mountain Home, Idaho.

Maria was born November 17, 1922 in Gablonz, Czech Republic. She attended school there and had a successful career in ice skating. Due to one part of her family being Jewish, she had to flee her homeland and lived in Santiago de Chile for several years, where she had her first-born son Antonio Wünsch. Obligated to flee again she moved to Stuttgart, Germany where her second son Emre Hasan Algan was born in Stuttgart. She then lived in Turkey for some years and, again in danger of her life, was rescued by the Catholic Our Lady of Good Council Church of Mountain Home, Idaho, finally settling there and becoming a proud US citizen. Maria, who was also a veteran’s widow, was a great lover of animals, particularly greyhounds and roosters. Known as the “Lady with the dogs” she did not want to leave her beloved friends, house and town until the end.

Maria was preceded in death by her son Antonio Wünsch, who died in Mountain Home, Idaho in 1995, with his mother Maria at his side.

Maria is survived by her son Emre Hasan Algan and the families of both of her sons.
