James “Baby Hughy” Hughes, age 64, passed away unexpectedly, in his home January 23, 2023.

Jim was born November 21, 1958, in Massachusetts. The eldest of two children, he was raised in Mountain Home, by loving parents, Annabell Cullen and Albert “Pinky” Hughes. Growing up, he spent much of his time tending to the family’s farm animals. He often told fond stories of his time on his grandparents’ ranch near Featherville, loving his hunting trips with his dad, uncle and grandfather. He also had a lifelong obsession with motorcycles and classic cars.

Jim graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1977. At the age of 25, he met Susan Stenlund. They later married and had two daughters. He spent a lot of time sharing his love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with his daughters and friends. Rain or shine, they always made it to Camp Wilson, where he proudly served on the committee.

Jim worked various jobs in the area including autobody painting, truck driving and construction. After finding his niche with drywall, he ran his own business for many years. He took great pride in his involvement building Cactus Pete’s in Jackpot, Nevada as well as many other large projects throughout Idaho, Washington and Nevada.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Amanda, her husband, Brian Fletcher, grandchildren Gabriel Hoadley and Aubree Hopper; daughter, Lydia, her husband, Jimmy Martinez, grandchildren Annabell and Makenna Martinez; former wife and lifelong friend, Sue; sister Katie Hughes, a nephew and 2 nieces. He was preceded by his parents, grandson, Nickolas Hughes; and faithful dog, Charlie.

The family would like to invite all who knew him to come share memories at Memorial Service Saturday, February 4th at the American Legion Post 26 at 3 pm.
