Nani Joy Child Beus, 88, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away on January 20, 2023, in Meridian, Idaho. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28th, at the Grand View Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with interment preceding at 10:00 a.m. at Hilltop Memorial Cemetery in Nyssa, Oregon.Arrangements are under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home, Idaho.

Nani was born in Sunset, Utah, on September 29, 1934, to Arvel Lester Child and Ila Adams. She had 6 fun brothers – Val, Keith, Ardean, Reed, Lynn, and Gary. Her early years were spent on the family farms in Vale and Nyssa, Oregon, where she learned the value of hard work.

After graduating from Nyssa High School in 1952, Nani attended Brigham Young University, majoring in Speech and Hearing, and playing violin in the BYU Symphony Orchestra. On June 30, 1953, she married Spencer William Beus in the Salt Lake Temple. They were happily married for over 64 years. They were blessed with 8 children, one of whom died in infancy (Richard Lee). In 1982 they moved to Grand View, Idaho, a farming and ranching community, where they felt very much at home and spent their remaining years.

Nani valued her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her life was spent in loving service – to family, church, and community. She especially loved helping the youth, and for many years served as an early-morning seminary teacher, her favorite of many church callings. For 12 years she was a volunteer EMT and treasured the experiences she had with her fellow crew members. She loved the opportunity of serving in the Boise Idaho Temple. Often, acquaintances having a “rough day” received a warm loaf of her homemade bread or a delicious cherry pie.

Nani loved music, working in her garden, doing family history research, studying the scriptures, and – most of all – time spent with family. She was a devoted wife and mother who, by the way she lived, instilled principles of faith, obedience, and enduring happiness in her posterity.

Spencer preceded Nani in death in March of 2018. Brothers Val and Ardean Child also preceded her in death.

Nani is survived by 7 children: Mark (Brenda), Riverton, Utah; Sharon Merrill (Robert), Safford, Arizona; Ray (Nanci), Mesa, Arizona; Eric (Erica), Owyhee, Nevada; Renae Gheen (Mark), Genola, Utah; Kathleen Baker (Bryce), Kuna; Reed (Michelle), Orem, Utah; 39 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and brothers Keith Child (Kathy), Quincy, Washington; Reed Child (Paula), Pasco, Washington; Lynn Child (Janice), Kennewick, Washington; and Gary Child (Julie), Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
