Elmore County Commissioners Meeting - Jan. 13, 2023
The Elmore County Commissioners began their latest meeting by approving the minutes for their previous meeting, and appointing Jeff Blanksma to the county’s planning and zoning commission.
Following a handful of other non-controversial approvals, Shelley Essl was sworn in as the County Clerk, Crystal Rodgers as a County Commissioner, Josh Dison as the County Assessor, Nicky Campbell as the County Coroner, Al Hofer as a County Commissioner, and Shondi Lott as the County Prosecutor. The Commissioners also decided that Commissioner Hofer would serve as the board’s chairman for the year.
After a short update on the status of the Forest Service building, a discussion was held with the county’s Land Use and Development Director, Mitra Mehta-Cooper regarding the county’s options after its project had begun facing challenges due to FEMA floodway regulations.
Alan Roberts gave a report regarding a variety of topics, including his seeking approval to purchase an extended warranty for an ambulance.
Steve VanNorman also addressed the Commissioners to give a brief update about the work his IT department has been doing, and to seek approval for the renewal of a cybersecurity system.
The Commissioners finally heard from Dylan Lawrence, Attorney for the Elmore County Water Project regarding an update on the Snake River Pipeline right-of-way, but the majority of the conversation took place in executive session following a general update.
