Wednesday, October 26, 2022

The Mountain Home School District Board met on the 18th in regular session.

Superintendent Gilbert spoke regarding conversations between himself and developers of the Mayfield Springs Development planned alongside I-84 West of Mountain Home. He reported that he asked developers a number of questions. Namely, he asked the developers about predicted population in the development, and more specifically, predicted student numbers. Trustee Binion posed a question regarding the independence of the Mayfield Springs area and its potential future of becoming its own city. Answers regarding the development’s future plans for independence are not immediately clear.

Following Superintendent Gilbert’s remarks, the board discussed the installation of three portables—that will provide six additional classrooms—at West Elementary. Afterwards, the board proceeded to engage in discussions regarding a handful of policy changes on topics such as transportation and personnel.

This was followed by a slew of resolutions proposed to the board, all of which the board approved. These resolutions brushed on topics such as school safety and transportation.

Lastly, the board moved to enter into executive session to discuss three early graduation requests, and one student hearing.
