January 30, 1961 - October 8, 2022

Joseph Armstrong was born in El Paso, Texas, the oldest son of Jesse W. and Kathryn Foster Armstrong. He spent his younger years there and then moved to New Mexico.

Joseph graduated from New Mexico State University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. His skill and talent in engineering took him to many places from his home in Roswell, New Mexico to Denmark, Quebec, and New York.

In 1995 he met and married the love of his life, Victoria Davis, and adopted her son Raif. In 2003 they moved to Mountain Home, Idaho, where he began a seventeen year career on the air base. He was the Base Energy Manager and was responsible for numerous energy saving projects.

Throughout Joseph’s life, his powerful operatic tenor voice entertained in high school and college choirs, at weddings, funerals, community programs, gospel nights, and anywhere he could brighten someone’s spirits. He really loved the old Broadway musicals and could belt out songs from Phantom of the Opera or any Gershwin tune. We thank him for the music. He knew music was his gift from God to share and he did so generously.

The community benefited from his volunteer spirit as a soccer coach, Recreation Foundation of Elmore County director, and member of the community choir. He was a dedicated member of the Christian and Baptist church and the First Congregational church.

Joseph is survived by his wife Victoria, his son Raif Devlyn Armstrong, daughter-in-law Jessica, brother Steven P. Armstrong, and sister Mary Armstrong.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. Thank you to First Congregational church and Women’s Fellowship, loving friends and neighbors, St. Luke’s Cancer Center and Horizon Home Health for care and support.
