The facts of the case that were reported by this paper at the onset with updates are available via public court documents.

A complaint was filed in early January of this year by the State Prosecuting Attorney’s office. Sykes was served papers and charged with a criminal misdemeanor charge of “Bribery – Using Public Position for Personal Gain” on or about April 14th, 2021. He entered a not guilty plea and requested a speedy trial on the 7th of February.

Two local magistrates had recused themselves from the case locally on the 9th of February, and the local Sheriff’s Office turned the case over to the Twin Falls Sheriff’s Office for investigation.
