“War is all hell.” William Tecumseh Sherman. The bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941 jolted the United States as never before.The U.S. Army, awakened to the importance of air power, started searching for places to train air crews. Richard Aguirre, a young graduate of Mountain Home High School, began thinking about what part he could play in protecting the homeland. Simultaneously, Bill Braye, an Army supply sergeant in the Philippines, heard the news on the radio and wondered what this would mean for him.
